for Academic Affairs of The University of Alabama System.

in Savannah , Georgia. Dr. Nash began his career as
a junior high school science teacher.

Brenda Terry

Brenda Terry has been active in elementary education since 1987 and has been a facilitator for elementary science education reform since 1992. She taught both third and fourth grades at Gordon Bibb Magnet School in Decatur, AL for 17 years. Brenda spent two years working as a science resource specialist for the University of Alabama in Huntsville Institute for Science Education’s HASP (Hands on Activity Science Program). Her HASP responsibilities included planning and facilitating professional development activities that promoted the implementation of hands-on, inquiry-centered science in five northern Alabama school districts involved in an NSF-funded LSC grant. She has worked with the Smithsonian and National Academies’ sponsored National Science Resources Center (NSRC) since 1997. As a NSRC consultant, she has served as a Strategic Planning Institute faculty as both a team leader and an Institute facilitator for both national and state Institutes. Brenda serves as the Associate Director of Alabama LASER (Leadership and Assistance for Science Education Reform).
Brenda has conducted workshops for local school districts and for state, regional, and national science teachers’ associations. She has also trained teachers in Linköping, Sweden for inquiry-centered science teaching and learning. She is a certified 4MAT (learning styles) trainer. Brenda served as an adjunct instructor for the UAB School of Education’s graduate education program. Currently, she is works as an education and public outreach specialist at the National Space and Technology Center (NSSTC) at UAH and with the Alabama Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education Coalition (AMSTEC) to facilitate dialogue about and support for an integrated stakeholder approach for mathematics and science education reform efforts throughout the state. Her academic training includes a B.S. from Winthrop University, Rock Hill, S.C.; a M.A. in Elementary Education, and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
